Thanks Jack!

Back on New Year's Day, Jack Hosley and I sat down on opposite ends of a skype call and this is the result.

I really like how smart Jack made me sound here. Like almost coherent for large portions of the interview.

Kids Today

I know this only tangentially related to PB but wtf.

Daily drive to deposit spawn at various institutions of public instruction this morning, elder sprout asks:

"Hey, Dad? What's podcast?"

Two minute discourse on audiofiles delivered via rss while the machine (and network) are otherwise unengaged. Minor side talk on "watching television vs watching television show." Yes they're both television, but when one is of the cable or air, it's not the same thing as watch… Continue

Variant Interview

I'm running a few days behind on my listening, but y'all should check out this interview with Rick and Anne Stringer on WNDR Radio. The Variant Frequencies group produced the Podiobooks title "The Failed Cities Monologues" and it's cool to hear about this Parsec Award winning effort.

WTG, Rick, and thanks for doing it, Jack.

How Does This Thing Work?

If you're new to Ning, there's some things that you should know to cut down on the disorientation of coming into a new space.

Ning is a kind of "group blog/discussion list." There's a set of components that we share and a set of components we have in common. The shared resources, we all can contribute to. The common components we each have one of to control.

You have an extented profile which includes a blog space. I'm writing this on my blog and you can follow my profil… Continue

Pros and Cons

I *like* the idea that there's a place for us to "chat amongst ourselves" as it were and having the fans cross pollinate the conversation might be an interesting addition, too.

I've been on Ning for a while now in the Classroom 2.0 community and it was interesting to watch it grow from nothing to over 4000 members in a year. Some of the features ... like "groups" ... weren't available a year ago, so the platform is definitely evolving.

The downside is that it's "another place… Continue

OK, Nathan. You got me. I haven't listened to Plitone Revisionist. In response, though, I think you're missing out by not checking out Billibub Baddings and the Case of The Singing Sword.

I'll also add you to my list to check out. Thanks.

Hello!
I was just having a look at your audiobooks and wondering which I should start with. I've bought an iPod Touch and am ready to rol. Awaiting your advice :)

Thanks for the welcome, and thank YOU for the Share stories.Without you and the other authors, work would be considerably more taxing...
I am a permaculture gardener, and tho I love the work, you keep my mind busy while my hands are body are working. I can't even remember what I did before...thank you!

Mr Lowell,

You are a dangerous man. You have a bad habit of writing and telling your stories so well that they grab the reader by the ears and hold them against an mp3 player until they have spooled out every last drop of your tale. The biggest regret is that they end.

Once they do, we poor readers are left in the deep dark again until you decide there is time to honor us again.

Shame, Shame on you Mr Lowell. I have been dragged unwittingly through Double Share and find myself very much saddened with loss as it comes to an end. You are much too good and your stories are legends before they leave your pen.

Now get back to work and write some more.

Thanks for the note. The bombings happened about a 20 minute drive from where we live. It's terrible. Bastards.

A curious muse? Where do I get one and do they come in lilac? :D
Making myself sit down long enough to write something can be a challenge in of itself. I was once referred to as an over-caffeinated bunny because I fidget a lot, and that is before I down a coffee. I use music to get in the zone most of the time, but there are odd occasions when my brain can't help but wander. I try to journal most of these tangents but it can be a difficult job making sense of the various ideas scrapbooked. Slowly but surely I am beginning to link up these strange journeys into something tangible, though I guess that is the task of every writer, hobbyists and professionals alike.

I was actually working on some Oz'isms to work into my reply but somehow the creativity fairy decided to go on strike this afternoon. I can see from the number of books that you already have on Podiobooks that you have been visited regularly over the past few years. Perhaps that is why I haven't been writing much of late. o_O Have you been offering the CF milk and cookies or something? I hear that bribery is a great way to encourage a muse to visit...
