Zen Jewitch

"Raw" narration, please critique

Hi, everybody! This is my first attempt at recording for audio-book. My biggest problem is the traffic road-noise. I live literally right next to a major thoroughfare, and there is no time of the day that there aren't cars and trucks going by. Also, there's really no room in my house that's any more sound-proof than where I recorded this.

The only editing that I've done is to take out the bloopers. It hasn't been through Levelator, hasn't been normalized or anything yet.

Regardless, I would appreciate feedback and suggestions.

Recorded on an MXL-990 through a Lexicon Lambda, into CuBase LE 4. Edited with Sony Soundforge Audio Studio

Edit: I have clipped the first 5 minutes out of the entire file, to allow those on a slower connection to have the opportunity to listen and comment more conveniently.

Two things:

1) I'm no engineer, but this sounds fine to me. I didn't notice road-noise, but I didn't listen to the whole thing. Maybe it's there later on.

2) You're not female. Interesting. I'll blame it on the "witch" at the end of your name.

nice sounding file. Clean and I didn't hear any pops. I did hear a bit of road noise but I'm listening with it REALLY cranked up. The reading is quite good .. a couple of small awkwardnesses but generally flowed smoothly. The only suggestion is "watch the patterned speech" .. it's not everywhere, but you have some sections where your sentences all have an inflection drop at the end - four or five of them in a row. It's not a lot and I'm *really* quibbling here.

Keep going. It sounds good to me... your final files will want to be at no more than 128kbps tho. That's why the file is so large.

I have not had a chance to listen yet but i have the same problem i have found that thick material over my windows help some. It also helps with the echo that i have been experienceing from my room. So fun to live with mom and dad, i get to improv alot LOL.
