Just a thank you

Hahaha. I agree with P.G. Holyfield. Vodka is never a bad idea...unless it blurs your vision so much you can't read. XD

UPDATED - Promos and Demos

Thanks for that! I will try the promo over again and see if I can't pace it better. I may also cut a bit of detail to make the promo more succinct. I was timing it to the music, so if I cut out a bit…

UPDATED - Promos and Demos

Thanks a lot! I realized that I uploaded the version where I didn't have the separation sound between scenes, but hopefully it won't matter very much. Beyond that, there's only one thing that I think…

So, I set myself a deadline of January 1st to finish the rewrite of the first book in the Markmasters Trilogy. Well...I didn't make it. As a punishment, I had to eat Japanese natto (fermented soybeans). And you think haggus is disgusting...you ha…

Hmmm, I'm not an expert, but my though is that you're speaking too directly into your microphone. Maybe if you talk slightly above or slightly below your mic, you can avoid it picking up some of those more embarrassing noises. I'm sure someone else…

I'll be sure to post anything interesting that I might figure out.

Thanks Bryan, it's also helpful for me, and probably others too, to hear these terms and sound issues, though it's kind of like an engineer explain manned space flight at times.

Got the e-mail. Thanks a ton!

Actually, I recently asked Scribe to voice a character for me, so I should be able to work from a raw recording and help find the optimal noise reduction process for her setup. Don't be discouraged, Scribe! You read very well. The technical stuff i…

Scribe, you probably read Nathan's discussion chain "If I could start over again", but if you didn't, check it out. If you use a portable mic, you could go somewhere and record in relative quiet. Maybe record at a friend's house, or deserted warehou…

Watashi ... Nani? Nope, I don't know the rest. I live in the UK, so lots of hardware is not available that people here recommend. If stuff I can get is expensive. I happen to find a music store, I just explained that I wanted a Mic for recording A…

Oh. Sound floor is the base level of background noise in the recording. The "background hiss" .. I COULD be that the gain is turned up too high. It could be a noisy mic. It could be the sound card in your lappy. It could be the cord itself is picki…

Right, that looks very nice and portable as well. Gosh, I wish I could search it better on the Japanese websites. I'm not convinced I can properly explain what it is I want. XD We'll give it a shot, though.

Ah, they don't ship outside the US. But it looks like they have a similar product in Japan, just for double the price. Xo Maybe the stores will have it at a better price. I've heard good things about that microphone, so I think I may end up getting…

I'm not convinced it's your mic. It may be a noisy sound board in your computer. You're in Tokyo so there must be some relatively inexpensive digital recorder technology there. For about what you'd pay for a good mic, you could pick up a recorder…

Thanks for the link. I'll check if that's available over here!

Sorry to be a total n00b, but what is a sound floor? I don't think it's ambient noise, though, as my microphone is on a chord, and extremely far from my laptop. It must be just the gain on the microphone being set too high...It's also possible the…

Hey, guys. I really appreciate the honesty of the replies you all gave me. It confirmed what I already knew and didn't want to admit to. I was hoping the fact that my microphone sucked could fly under the radar. I honestly don't know what my soluti…

Schadenfreude

So, I set myself a deadline of January 1st to finish the rewrite of the first book in the Markmasters Trilogy. Well...I didn't make it. As a punishment, I had to eat Japanese natto (fermented soybeans). And you think haggus is disgusting...you haven't seen this stuff. Here's the video of my punishment for all those who think schadenfreude is acceptable: I sure do!

I promise to write more!!! Continue

The Epic Rewrite...and Simultanneous Recording

I've been working on the same trilogy for about seven years. It seems like a really long time, but with University followed by a full-time-job, it's been a bit difficult to write consistently. I'm halfway through the second book, though, and if I can keep up the pace I've been going at for the past year, I'm sure I can finish it in the next two years. The problem I have run into is that the work I'm writing now is worlds better than what I wrote when I was seventeen. Of course it is--that's what… Continue
