I read somewhere a long time ago that you should try reading your story backwards when you edit it. I'm starting at chapter 16 and going backwards. It helps! I've found some of my plot holes and I'm using some advice from some authors on here and on my livejournal, researching back through my story to find out where or how something got to be the way it is in the 16th chapter! :)

I started to edit my first novel Sugarland. The first two chapters are complete, but the rest of it is a mess.

There are issues already in the form of HUGE plot holes, sometimes to be confused with pot holes considering how much pain I'm in now that I realize that my story is in fact not as complete as I thought it was.
